This nine-story landmark hotel sits in the center of downtown Nashville, across the street from the State Capitol and Legislative Plaza, two blocks from the Nashville Convention Center, and four blocks from the Second Avenue entertainment district. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel opened in 1910 and quickly became a preferred gathering place for city socialites and a frequent stop for prominent persons, including presidents, actors, and even gangsters. In 2003, The Hermitage completed a massive renovation to guestrooms and public areas, restoring it to its original glory. Complimentary morning coffee and tea and evening refreshments are served in the grand lobby. The Capitol Grille showcases creative regional cuisine, and the restored Oak Bar offers cocktails and light fare. Special services include a bath concierge, room-service pet menu, personal shopping service, and cooking demonstrations. Extensive meeting facilities include the 2,500-square-foot Grand Ballroom with ornately painted ceiling and Russian walnut paneling.
